Kung Fu Panda 3 Spoiler-Free Review!

FTC Disclaimer: Our family was given complimentary tickets to see Kung Fu Panda 3 for the purposes of review on this blog.  All opinions are very much our own.  What did we think?  Read on!

My family and I were recently invited to a premiere screening of Kung Fu Panda 3.  As you can imagine it was full of awesomeness!

To set the tone, The Valley of Peace is under attack from an evil warrior, Kai, just as Po’s father returns to find him.  Things quickly go awry, and Po is on a mission to find himself and defeat his enemy.

I actually found myself giggling through a lot of scenes.  Our daughter Miss V, who will be 4 soon, really enjoyed it as well.  V doesn’t sit still for long, but she actually made it through the entire movie, a first for her!  She was engaged in the characters and story.  From a parent perspective, the movie was entertaining for everyone.  The violence was not scary, and there was no need to shield Miss V.  The storyline is not totally recycled, but does feature characters from previous installments.  I personally enjoyed the movie.  It was not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

If you have a child who loves Po, Tigress or Shifu they’ll certainly like this adventure.  If you enjoyed the first two movies, there is no reason you won’t like this one.  If you or the kids haven’t seen the previous two movies, it’s ok, I think there is enough in Kung Fu Panda 3 to still be entertaining, and not feel like you’ve been left out of an inside joke.

All in all, I give it a thumbs up.  When I asked V if she liked the film, she thrust her fist in the air and yelled, “Yeah!”.  That’s a stamp of approval if I’ve ever seen it!  We will probably purchase Kung Fu Panda 3 when it arrives on Blu-ray, too.  So yes, go see the movie, and enjoy some time with the kids! 🙂
