Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
I was having a craving for marshmallow and chocolate.. It hit me I could totally make Rice Krispie Treats! But, with a Valentine’s Day flair!
These can be made easily with gluten-free Rice Krispies too!
Here’s how it’s done
I used the original Rice Krispie Treat Recipe and cut it in half, because there’s no way our family would eat that many Rice Krispie Treats!
What you need-
3 Cups Rice Krispies (gluten-free or otherwise)
2 Cups Mini Marshmallows
1 1/2 Tablespoons Butter/Margarine
1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips (white, dark or a combo)
Cooking Spray
Food Coloring
9×9 Baking Pan
In a large glass bowl melt the butter/margarine and marshmallows in the microwave. It took much less time than the original recipe stated, about a minute.
Mix with a rubber spatula, and add food coloring if desired. I used a magenta gel.
Slowly stir in the Rice Krispies.
Let cool for a minute and add a mix of white and dark chocolate chips.
The dark chocolate might melt a bit and make the treats look a bit muddy. If you’re going for looks, just use white chocolate. You could also melt the dark chocolate in a double-boiler and drizzle over the top when done.
Spray cooking oil over the 9×9 baking pan, and add the mixture, let set.
Use a cookie cutter to cut shapes. I used the Mickey-head cutter from my Disney Side Celebration Kit, only because I didn’t have a heart shape!
For presentation you could also place each shape in a plastic bag and close with red and pink ribbon.
Viola! Perfect Valentine’s Day gift!
Hope you enjoyed this recipe!
