Magic Band Budget App

Hi There!

I was sent a copy of the new Magic Band Budget App to review for free. The app is by a private developer not associated with Disney, due to this transactions are added manually.  The app is meant to help calculate all your purchases on your magic band, so you’re not shocked by the bill at check-out. Great idea! It can also help budget elsewhere in your vacation.

Let’s check it out-

You may tap on a dollar amount to quickly add a transaction, like $5.50 for a cupcake. Or, you can tap on the category and add a detailed description of the transaction including a photo of that gorgeous cupcake.

You can add and subtract categories, as well as set budgets for each. This might be a great way to set your child’s budget too. Maybe they earned $36 in allowance to spend on the trip. You can take a photo of each purchase, and teach a bit about spending.

There’s also the option to add savings for the trip, and customize the monorail for Disney World or Disneyland.

Now, for my honest review. I think the app has some great features in that you can take photos and add detailed descriptions, or add transactions on the fly. I also like that you can set budgets for the trip, and even add savings. The graphics are pretty slick too.

What I think could be improved is the navigation. The navigation buttons are small and it’s easy to accidentally hit something you don’t want. I also found myself adding transactions twice because I hit “done” instead of “save”.  Do take the time to learn the app ahead of your vacation to get used to all the controls.

*UPDATE- The developer has relayed that an update for the navigation is expected soon*

Overall, I’m keeping this on my phone because I like to be on-budget, and it could certainly be useful in keeping track of transactions.
