Earn Loyalty Points for Disney Resort Stays!

So, Disney does not have a loyalty program that earns points for future visits like many other hotel chains.  Poop.  However, there are two new websites that WILL earn you airline miles or Best Buy Reward Zone points in exchange for making a reservation through their sites.  Introducing PointsHound and RocketMiles.  With these sites you can earn yourself miles for a future flight to Disney, or a brand-new electronic goody.  Why not get something extra for making your reservation?

These sites are perfect when you just can’t find any applicable discounts from Disney promotions, AAA, etc.

Let’s look at PointsHound first.

pointshound

Search for Orlando, FL along with dates and your preferred rewards/loyalty points.

Once the results appear, type in “Disney” in “Hotel Name Contains” to see all of the Disney resorts.

There is also a Low Price Guarantee so you don’t have to worry about prices being too high.

PointsHound also has lots of availability on hotels around the world.  What’s great is that many times you’ll earn hotel loyalty points in addition to the airline miles earned from PointsHound.  Even better if you use a credit card that earns points!

Get an extra 250 miles/points when you book your first reservation through this link: https://pointshound.com/odncaf

Next, let’s look at RocketMiles.

rocketmiles

RocketMiles curates the hotels and resorts offered, so there are very few in each city.  However, these hotels will earn significantly more miles than PointsHound.  Also to note, Best But Reward Zone Points are unavailable, but there are a few more airline partners.

Now, because of that whole curation thing, there is only one Disney resort that appears on the site, and it’s been a bit elusive; Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

For a direct comparison, I used a check-in date of 9/17/2013 for one night on both PointsHound and RocketMiles.  The price for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge was $195 on both sites.  I used Virgin America Elevate points for both.  On PointHound I would have earned 300 Elevate points, whereas on RocketMiles I would have earned 500 Elevate points.  So, this is great if you plan on staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The on-site Loew’s hotels at Universal Studios are also listed on RocketMiles.

Now, if you’re not seeing what you’re looking for, change the search criteria, Orlando vs. Lake Buena Vista, and also your preferred airline program.  Changing things up gets different search results.

There is one other important thing to note, RocketMiles reservations are unlikely to earn additional hotel loyalty points (like Hilton HHonors).  But since Disney doesn’t offer a hotel loyalty program, it’s no big deal.

Earn an extra 1,000 bonus points when you book your first hotel reservation through this link: https://www.rocketmiles.com/refer/SHANNON

Or, use referral code: SHANNON

This way, we both get some extra points!

Now, on both sites, I found availability on Disney resorts in 2013, however 2014 was a different story.  Nada.  It may just be these haven’t been updated yet, since Disney only recently released pricing, but I’m keeping my eye on this!  🙂

Tip of the hat: Hack My Trip

Have a great time searching, and earning more for your Disney resort stay!
